Thirteen-year-old Josh Maloon loves listening to music. He says it's an easy way to pass the time. "Music helps you forget about things," he says.

So Josh pulls out his iPod Nano whenever he walks the dog or helps his neighbour with garden work or goes on a road trip. He pushes the earbuds into his ears and feels good.

And since his mother, Deborah Maloon, is an audiologist who worries about hearing damage, he doesn't play it too loud.
